Book Review | The Immortal Crown by Richelle Mead
One day I won't have any of her books left to read... Probably wot happen as she is writing more by the day and I haven't even read her beginning series yet! Have you read them?
Product Description (from goodreads.com): Gameboard of the Gods introduced religious investigator Justin March and Mae Koskinen, the beautiful supersoldier assigned to protect him. Together they have been charged with investigating reports of the supernatural and the return of the gods, both inside the Republic of United North America and out. With this highly classified knowledge comes a shocking revelation: Not only are the gods vying for human control, but the elect—special humans marked by the divine—are turning against one another in bloody fashion.
Pro's: Suspsense
Ability to keep you reading
Twists
Con's: Arcardia
My thoughts: I love this series of books and I am aching for the next one - dosing myself with random sections of vampire academy and bloodlines is not enough.
This book starts a little bit down the line from where the first one ends. Mae and Justin are checking out a Voodoo priest when, obviously, they get attacked. They don't just get attacked though, they're attacked my scarab beetles that can only be killed with a dagger from the Gods. Creepy right?
Throughout the story we are taken to many places, in fact the bulk of the book takes place in Arcardia, RUNA's neighbour. Theres some more creepy religion sections and another priest who has basically gone crazy. There is a staff that changes when Mae takes it and she finally finds her sister. However, I didn't like the most part of the story. Mead is excellent at captivating her readers into reading every single word on the page, and I did, but ultimately I found my interest increased on the sections where they weren't in another sector. Totally different from the first book.
I did like how Mae was left behind and basically everyone thought it was normal.
I would recommend this book as a series, I did thoroughly enjoy it and there are pro's and cons to everything!
Have you read this book?
