Book Review | Unbreakable by Kami Garcia

If there was one thing I never thought I would read it's a novel about ghosts. Ghosts have never interested me but mix it with secret and legion and clearly I am all in.
Blurb: I never believed in ghosts. Until one tried to kill me.
When Kennedy Waters finds her mother dead, her world begins to unravel. She doesn’t know that paranormal forces in a much darker world are the ones pulling the strings. Not until identical twins Jared and Lukas Lockhart break into Kennedy’s room and destroy a dangerous spirit sent to kill her. The brothers reveal that her mother was part of an ancient secret society responsible for protecting the world from a vengeful demon — a society whose five members were all murdered on the same night. Now Kennedy has to take her mother’s place in the Legion if she wants to uncover the truth and stay alive. Along with new Legion members Priest and Alara, the teens race to find the only weapon that might be able to destroy the demon — battling the deadly spirits he controls every step of the way.

Review: Kennedy is such a relatable character. From the time you find her in a graveyard trying to catch her cat, meeting a ghost and then finding her mother dead you relate to everything she says and does. Then her entire world is turned upside down as what killed her mother tried to kill her but she's saved by two boys - twins - who break into her house and kill the ghost. If thats not enough to draw you in I dont know what is.

They take her with them to meet the rest of the gang and so the Legion is born. The twins - Jared and Lukas - believe she is the missing member of the group as all of the previous members have mysteriously died all on the same night as Kennedy's mother. Needless to say it's a pretty good assumption.

Through ghost hunting and riddle solving to some intimate moments this book definitely knows how to tell a ghost story and I loved it.

Rating: 5/5 Stars
Comment: Don't believe in ghost but this book makes them real.
